Farm History
Our first goat was a La Mancha named Tootie. I couldn't believe I had to pay $100 for a stupid goat that didn't even have any ears...but our friends said our newly orphaned foal needed a companion. Plus, we could milk her to feed the foal to save money on the milk replacer...that was in 1987...
It turns out that Tootie was a lifesaver. Not only did she adopt that foal as her own, but she even stood on the gate so the filly could nurse!
We've never been without a goat on the farm since!
Word to the wise......it's not always a good thing to have a 1200 pound horse think she's a goat. If you think its amazing how your goat can find a way to get out of the fence, just imagine!
